Lake Placid Village home for tourist all year around Main Street is located on beautiful mirror lake. The mile long main has coffee shops, books stores, tobacco and liquor stores, an old fashion movie theater, and churches. Lake Placid has great restaurants with views of the high peaks and lakes.

            During the fall the upstate region of New York days consist of sunny days with fluffy white clouds, however the air is very cold. Bring your hiking shoes, wool sweaters and fleece pants. The most beautiful time of the year in the high peak region is during the fall months. The mountains become on fire with leaves of red, purple, yellow.

            The winter months offer the Saranac lake ice castle, Mirror lake toboggan shoot and figure skating, and White Face ski resort. Christmas in upstate New York is truly magical, a fresh blanket of snow on the ground is guaranteed. Hotels on the lake offer the best rooms, because they have the open view of the frozen lake and snow capped mountains.

            During the spring the weather can be very sporadic, and the area is thawing so most of the hikes are muddy. However kayakers, river goers and rock climbers have it made. The population in the spring is usually low compared to the rest of the months.

            Remember when you are a tourist, to be kind to the locals. To learn about the great spots you first need to be kind and courtesy on the road!!!! Lake Placid tourist seem to forget to share the road.
